Re: Division structure

End result there is an independent Battalion, small in size maybe, but capable of independent action on a busy battlefield. Sort of like a Special Forces unit. Its been a while since Ive read Petre's "Napoleon's Campaign in Poland 1806-1807" - but if I recall correctly, he goes into detail about the...

Re: Battalion Guns and Skirmishing

Good discussion, particularly if you consider how to handle exceptions that are not covered by rules. The odd case of Battalion Guns + Full Skirmish order, but the same applies to any oddity that always comes up every other game. How you handle it depends on what the tone of your gaming session is. ...

Re: Are Cossacks disordered after winning shock combat

I interpret that as meaning that Cossacks are always in a semi-disordered state at the best of times, as they don't have the extreme levels of drill that "regular" cavalry have. This is already reflected in the combat factors assigned to Cossacks. Therefore a "disorder" result on them is not a big s...

Re: Artillery "under skirmisher fire"

I like that ruling - it makes sense considering historical deployments, and concurs with Reisswitz (Kriegspiel) when it comes to the treatment of skirmishers vs artillery. I have a followup question that is related too - about intergral skirmishers being allowed to fire during prep fire phases. In o...

Re: Non Napoleonic Armies.

On the ADLG forum, there is a + button on the lower left - clicking that shows other Herve rulesets, such as Bataille Empire, and also Blitzkrieg

Re: Non Napoleonic Armies.

Good news - I see that Herve is working on a set of WW2 / Blitzkrieg rules that follow the tradition of ADLG -> BE Between these 3 sets of rules that (should) use common mechanics with a shifting emphasis from melee to firepower, with increasing command complexity ... should be able to interpolate t...

Re: Non Napoleonic Armies.

Mon Ami ! From Adelaide originally, came up here for a spot of contracting ... and still here :) Yeah, its just painting and solo gaming for now - and collecting rules and growing the lead mountain. Be great to pop down to ADL again sooner rather than later and get some gaming in. Im keeping an eye ...

Re: Non Napoleonic Armies.

Currently experimenting with extended periods where the command, tactics and maneuver is still basically Napoleonic with more infantry units SK capable ... cavalry still in use, although more vunerable to firepower, and great advances in artillery. Advances in small arms firepower look good on paper...
