Re: A few different questions
2. I thought there was as clarification that a reserve order is only assigned when off table and a reserve order only exists for that formation until it exits the reserve order. But I can't find it quickly. This is implied in the clarifications to operational movement. 3 Not there is a clarification...

Re: Charged and move
Well the opportunity charge is resolved. so I would think the remain non-melee units may continue their move.

I found just do a photo at the end of every turn before you pull of the action markers.

Re: Artillery Prolonging
Whether squares should move is also an interesting one. Is there much from history on this? Another good question. So under threat of cavalry charge, I don't think so. There is the case of a British division in peninsula moving in squares while French Dragoons were nearby. But in 30 minutes a witho...

Re: Artillery Prolonging
Dan the order system makes it hard ( but not impossible) for people to back away from you and confirm the the order requirements We feel artillery is the predominant force on the table at present which doesn't feel right and distorts the gameplay. I get your point on the order system. I suspect the...

Re: Artillery Prolonging
one more thing. Small or poor shooters really suffer and are often in armies that it is precious to prolong for a CP. Another option is to make a prolong unable to be part of a group. This will limit it. Also you have to ask yourself how bad does it get for the 3-4 lb guns particularly horse batteri...

Re: Artillery Prolonging
So we saw that same effect. However as the artillery got too close, it was often lost. How much artillery are you losing? I think in all rules players over expose their artillery relative to history. Many batteries were lost in retreat or withdrawing from a position, not actually being over run. Alt...

Re: Group charges
I understand your intention here. Unfortunately the rules do not read like this. There is one sentence that states "artillery and skirmishers cannot charge". I understand your point, while disagreeing. It is not as clear as one would like, but I think you have over invested in a certain conclusion....

Re: Cavalry Withdrawal
Good question. I don't think it is precise. My assumption is all or nothing. But that is not really supported. So I should not assume. I think I would say they could choose to do so. ie. Part of the charge goes forward, part withdraws. I don't think I like that, but I think that is where I come down...

Re: Strategic Command Phase Order
So yes, play the way you do. Note p 80, reserve divisions must have their turn of arrival written. Now interestingly, this page somewhat implies the CP must be spent that turn. Not may be spent. It is not clear and worth clarifying for the future. I think we play it "may be spent". But reserve comes...
