Re: Visibility and line of sight

I am missing something. Using your "wood piercing" artillery phrase, makes me think you can fire deep inot woods, but line of sight still exists. So can you explain to me? The intent in particular was to allow units to charge enemy that they knew were there, but unable to have LOS. I.E.your dude on ...

Re: change formation and charge question

In France, and I deplore that, we are flexible concerning the center to center for contacting units. But if not, there is few situations where this possibility can outcome. So I think the flexibility is in charging to center. I don't think p 42 says you cannot charge unless you can contact he cente...

Re: change formation and charge question

If you allow a wheel after a formation change, you give more power to class A. I would be fine with this. 1) The cost over an army of class A is noticeable and these troops should be a bit better than they are in my opinion. 2) It helps take away some geometry of overly measuring. 3) Melee attacks ...

Re: Withdrawal

What Roger writes is first bullet on p 61. Yes it should be repeated on p 62 but it covers that as Roger outlines.

Re: Good Shooter

I also see the good shooter as reflecting the British historical advantage. Probably in game terms the British do want to advance alr...

Re: Gentle Hill objectives

Well first, remember that it was very kind of the French author to write special rules for the British. I mean that cross cultural sensitivity deserves an award.

I agree read the "top of the hill" as the center for objective locations.

Re: Engage orders

I think we are basically playing it the same. 50% first.

In an early conversation with El Kreator I talked about the orders in broad terms warning him they seem not specific enough. He did not want them to be overly constraining but every Question and FAQ we are pushing for more precision.

Re: Mixed order

SO this is basically 1814 French infantry with conscripts. So this takes the conscripts out of being able to group move with mixed order troops in line. That's our conclusion?

Re: Movement of detached skirmishers

I think you have it right as the general consensus.

Yes they can 1/4 turn but I would still apply your limit on not exceeding their overall move distance further corner to present position.

Also I think common sense would say don't add 2 UD to a roll of 1.
