French pronunciation of Napoleonic General's names

Message par selaurant » lun. 2 mars 2020 22:04

Bonjour from Adelaide. Please pardon my lack of French language.

I have French revolutionary and imperial armies and enjoy playing them. I had a question - is there anywhere that I can hear correct French pronunciation of the names of Napoleon's marshalls and generals? I would like to know I am saying them correctly :)

Merci.

Thanks for the link. I had a couple of other particular favorites, which I will guess and be grateful if anyone can confirm:

Dessaix = Dess-aye
Massena = Mass-een-a
Marmont = Marr-mon

Masséna :
french "a" as in english : bl[a]ck and "e" pronouced not like typical french "e" but "é". like english "a" in mir[a]cle

Dessaix :
forget the "x"
french "e" as in english : h[e]r and french "ai" like english "f[ai]r"

Marmont :
difficult one...
forget the final "t"
french "a" as in english : "bl[a]ck and french "on" as in english :fr[on]t
