I quite like the idea that in an encounter some of the arriving troops must have a specified sector and order. Having all on reserve orders gives a lot of flexibility that might be less than historically reasonable.

So would a fair summary be:

Up to half (rounded down) of divisions may have the reserve order.
In Battle these may be held off table and come on from turn 2 onwards at player discretion
In Encounter up to half the divisions may have the reserve order, but must be brought on in turn 2 or 3 as per p74 (the reserve here allowing flexibility in place of entry and orders given) and may not be withheld (so a division arriving t2 on reserve must enter table t2 and may not be held back until t3 for example)
In Assault the attacker may keep a reserve as per Battle, the defender may have up to half in reserve but must maintain 1/3 of points off table until turn 4, if this is the reserve order then it may have flexibility as per above but if this means 2 divisions one must have a defined entry point and order, the other may have the reserve order as desired.
Flank marches are not reserves and follow the rules on p81 for entry but must adhere to p74 for timing

Or have I really misunderstood it all?

Hi all ,

it seems to be a blended solution

NO more than half divisions OUT OFF TABLE, ( except during an encounter)
AND
No more than half divisions with the RESERVE ORDER (flank march and reinforcements allowed in complement)

So for 3 divisions
in battle: 2 divisions on table and 1 out off table with any kind of status. ( REERVE ORDER , REINFORCEMENT, FLANK MARCH)
In encounter: 1 division on table, 1 max in RESERVE ORDER, the other one in reinforcement or flank march.
In assaut : same as battle for the attacker, and defender 66 points out off table ; if 1 division in turn 4 with any kind of status, if more than 1 divisions as per encounter but all in turn 4.

Waiting for the last word of the author ... ;)
