Timing of shock combats

Hi there

3 infantry units in line charge 3 other infantry units in line and end up attacking each other like this

BR BR BR
FR FR FR

The French, at the active player, decides to attack on both of the flanks first. He wins both combats and the british retreat.
The French on either side does not pursue and it now looks like this.
BR
FR FR FR

Now the question is does the French center unit get morale support from the 2 units on his flanks?

Absolutly not.
All the combats are supposed to be simultaneous.
The units having fighted can't support.

If this is true, why does it state on page 57 that the attacker decides the order of combats because the results may influence other combats?
How can these results influence something that is happening at the same time?

Why for that matter would it be import to choose the order of combats if everything is simultaneous?

Page 48 bullet point 4 states a unit can provide morale support to a maximum of 2 friendly units.

How does this work? Does this mean only an unengaged unit between (& in support distance) of 2 combats can support both?

Why can't the units in the above examples provide morale support ? I mean they have driven off their attackers so are no longer in combat? They would have an action marker but, units with action markers not engaged can still give support.

Wagmestre I apologize for my contradictory comments I'm just finding this part of the rules a little tricky at present.

For example I'm not even sure if you are considered engaged in combat if you are only giving morale support (re page 48 Bullet point 4)?

Can you please point me to where it says all SHOCK combats are simultaneous? Most of the sections on Page 57 seem to be at odds to your view.

Also morale support clearly states that units with action markers can support.

I am sorry but I think you are wrong.

We have been playing it that troops can benefit from their friends winning this bound and becoming free to now count as supporters.

There's not a huge 'attacker's bonus' in these rules and this is one section that provides it.

Yes

Combat are resolved one by one in the order choosen by the attacker
You can consider that this bonus is due to seeing frendly unit beaten by the enemy.
