Prussian Fusiliers

Message par prussianhussaruk » sam. 21 déc. 2019 14:28

I would be interested to know why after 1807 they are no fusiliers classed as light infantry?
After the reforms of 1808, 1 in every 3 battalions of a Line infantry regiment were a fusilier battalion and given the reforms were to bring the army into line with the French use of columns and skirmishers, I would have thought a later army would have had more light infantry available to it.

Thanks

Hi Don

Exactly what I was asking in a previous post. By having no Fusiliers represented in post 1808 armies, then there is no point in having them represented at all on the table. There were much less Jager and even Frei-Jager only made a up a small proportion of light troops available to the Prussians.

Having re-looked at this I think they have compensated by allowing a larger number of jagers and Schutzen.

The other option would be like the French and Poles for instance that can break a line infantry unit into skirmishers, so why not have this ability for the later Prussian lists to cover Fusiliers. Given that Prussian brigades technically were as big as a French division.

The fusiliers are represented by the fact that every prussian line infanrty is FT1 so same value as french infantry.
Only veteran french light infantry are better but pussians have jagers, schutzen and free corps with rifles.

Thanks Herve' for the clarification
I sort of thought that this is what was intended. My fellow gamers in Nelson, New Zealand are enjoying these rules very much. There are about 9 of us, all of whom are AdLG players and all were thinking it would be an easier transition from those rules to these - oh how wrong they are !

I have Russian, Prussian, French, Saxon and Polish armies or the start for some. The only issue I suppose with the Prussian list for post 1807 armies is that is no point in actually having the figures to represent them, just use musketeer units. Whereas pre 1807 lists have Fusiliers as seperate units, might have to do an early Prussian army now ! :D :D

Cheers Rob

Could be worse, could be a Russian Jager, before 1805 they did know which way was up.
