4cm to 3cm bases

hi all.
after reading the book which i find excellent few questions came in mind . so lets start with the bases.
if the figures are based in 4cm width to 3cm depth bases with double ranks of 6 to 8 figures in each base as in the second picture in page 16 and use 4 of them for a medium unit as is the most common case :
a.) doing line formation with 2 bases in front and 2 behind looks ok but doing column with 1 base front and all others behind gives a bit weird footprint of 4cm frontage to 12cm depth looking more like a road column . is it right or we miss something_:;;
b) can we use 2 such bases for medium units instead of 4 just like we would do if we had 4 4cm to 1.5cm bases; but in that case we need extra marker for the small unit that will be 2 bases also and extra marker for the column square or another way of improvization
regards

Hi,
I think the answer is in the example above the diagrams on p18. The value of a ud is equal to 2 bases, So if using 4 by 3 then you would end up 2 bases front and 2 behind.
cheers

thx jim
so 2 front and 2 behind for column?
and 4 in line for line? that means 16cm frontage and UD of 8cm as per the example.
so what table must we use for 200 points game?
thx

Hi all,

2 front and 2 behind is for Line.
1 front an 3 behind for column.

and for 200 points , you must use 120 cm by 80 cm table

If your bases are yet 2 ranks deep and 3 cm, you could use only 2 bases for 1 unit.

(One of your "double" base looks like 2 "rules" bases).

If you want to use the standard format, then use only 2 bases (12 to 16 figs).
To represent small size unit, you can just put a "1 loss" marker on it.

If you want to use 4 bases, then units in line formation will have a width of 16 cm so you have to use one UD = 8 cm.
You can also use 1 UD = 6 cm to reduce movement and fire range and play with 200 pts on a 180 x 120 cm table
