1 ) you can make an oblique movement together with a group movement straight forward ? ex : two units move straight and one move straight but in oblique move ?
2) Is it mandatory for an Infatry to try square under Cavalry Charge ?
3)one unit of cavalry lose a melee and retreat 8 UD ; If the movement bring me off table , the unit is out or only in the initial 2 UD straight back ?
Questions
Re: Questions
Hi,
According to me
1/ a group mouvement must keep the same orientation at the end of a movement. So, an oblique move and a straight move is possible within the same group, if they are still at the right distance (2UD max) at the beginnning and at the end of the move.
2/ Square is never mandatory against cavalry (but it is far better !)
3/ Retreat: 2 UD straight back, 45° turn max possible, then 6 UD. So you can, in certain case, avoid being off table.
Vive l'empereur !
Kind regards,

Re: Questions
3) point
When you retreat after loosing a melee, you can turn to avoid ennemy or obstacle but not to avoid to go off table.
And if you go off table, the unit is eliminated (they have flee the battlefield).
It is an easiest and fastest way to play than manage units out off table.
