Buildings in a village touching

Message par Viking709 » lun. 22 févr. 2021 19:43

In a village with 4 buildings can two buildings be side by side touching each other and across the road another two buildings be wise by side touching each other
I could not find any restriction on buildings other than in a village they can’t be more than 2 UD apart

It may not be in the rules, but how can the troops be placed round the edge when the buildings are occupied?
I can't see why anyone would want to have them so close.

I prefer place House on a 2.5 UD square. And place figures into this square. It looks better, and it's easier to know where the Building area start and end.

For Viking709, on road in the middle of the village it's enough. Nothing special in the rules for that.

regards.

The idea is to force the enemy to occupy the buildings and not squeeze in between them. The gap can be as large 2 UD and could run a battery or a column of cavalry in between and there would be no penalty in movement
To me a village is a difficult piece of terrain with a road running thru it and should disadvantage any cavalry or artillery fighting on a road while within the village foot print

We also use a 2UDx3UD base and place the building on it. There is still room to place units around it

It might have been better if the author had defined a village as a difficult area with buildings placed on it. Perhaps th buildings might evev have been decoration only and the whole area designated as cover.

It's impossible to fight on a road ONLY.

If a road cross a piece of terrain, ( and village is a piece of difficult terrain) , if you have to fight you must consider the penalites for difficult terrain. with no cover, p71 and 72.

And to control a village , you must be the only one to occupy buildings.

SO no interest to occupy a road.

Hi Zeitoun
That’s how I interpret it. Would you also agree if the buildings in a village had a 2UD GAP between them that this area would also be considered difficult?
Thanks for help on this
