passage of lines

Message par Adrian Steer » dim. 13 juil. 2025 12:21

Would BE be a better game if we got rid of the requirement for a 1ud gap round units to allow them to be interpenetrated with out causing them to be disordered? If this stand needs to be rationalised the size of the bases are far bigger than the units took up anyway so plenty of space for units to open files. ( but this is sophistry anyway the question is about how we play the game)
This is because I have taught numerous new players and this is the single hardest thing to get right in the game and also applies to more experienced players which can cause a domino effect. I find this causes more upset that its worth with players and wonder what the benefits in terms of the game are?
Comments please

I appreciate the problems, especially when teaching new players. However, the enforced separation of units and the need to align them makes for a good looking game
I suspect without the passage of lines rules we would see units crowded together and some quite ugly games with a whole lot of interpenetration issues to deal with.
